    beef bones!

We recently switched dog food because Seamus stopped eating. (He didn't like Canidae's new formula.) We talked to the pet supply store owner about a raw diet. While, we're still not ready to do that whole hog (so to speak), I did purchase a couple of beef bones for Seamus. Oh my goodness, what a great investment! Seamus is a rescue and he doesn't chew on anything (no rawhides, no nylabones, no pig ears). He isn't even that excited about the Kong, though we could work on it more.

I've had him a year and I've never seen him so blissfully happy as he has been with that beef bone. It's lasted three days so far and he's chewed on it for hours. (We put it back in the fridge when he's done.) He carries it around and his tail wags constantly. When he's done chewing, he's panting, tail up and bright-eyed.

His beard is a mess but it was worth it!

    Re: beef bones!

    What a lucky boy!

I have been feeding a raw diet for about six years supplemented with good quality kibble and canned food here and there. My dogs don't actually do well with beef bones, but lots of dogs like them.

Some vets definitely do not approve of bones for the fear of broken teeth and choking, so be careful.

I, for one, am a believer in the raw diet.

    Go Seamus!
